Photo booth ideas for any event

Practical ideas you can actually book: what to put on the strip, which booth to choose, where it should stand, and what works at a wedding, a birthday, a graduation, a Ramadan night or a brand event.

The red photo booth dressed in holiday garlands at Downtown Katameya

In short

The best photo booth ideas start with the strip: names and the date, an age or class year, your colours, a monogram or a logo, on a three-frame, four-frame or bespoke design. Then choose the booth for the crowd (the enclosed booth in Black or Red for privacy, the open booth for big groups), place it where guests pass, and add video messages or a photobook if you want more than the print. Tru Booth delivers all of these across Greater Cairo and Giza, the North Coast and El Gouna. Send your date and your idea on WhatsApp or through the inquiry form.

Start with the night, not the gadget

Every idea on this page fits what Tru Booth offers on a real booking: a custom strip design, the enclosed booth in Black or Red, the open booth, video messages and photobooks, with a custom backdrop on request. The rest (a card by the booth, the decor around it, the costumes) comes from you and your guests. Treat them as suggestions to adapt to your crowd and your venue, not a formula.

A good booth idea answers three questions: what guests take home, who goes in together, and where the booth stands. Get those right and the rest follows.

Photo strip design ideas

A custom strip design comes with every booking. Some directions to start from:

  • The names that matter tonight (the couple, the host or the guest of honour) with the date, so each strip says whose night it was.
  • Initials as a monogram, ideally the same one printed on your invitations.
  • A palette lifted from the room: the flowers, the table linen, the invitation card.
  • Two languages on one strip, for example the names in Arabic and a short line in English.
  • A short line that names the occasion: the age for a birthday, the class year for a graduation, the season for a Ramadan night.
  • Your logo, brand colours and campaign artwork, for a company event or a brand activation.
  • The venue’s name and a seasonal frame, for a mall or venue with a Tru booth on site.
  • The classic four-frame strip, or a three-frame layout if you prefer fewer frames.
  • For something nobody else has: a concept design on request, which can use AI-rendered artwork.

Booth and backdrop ideas, and the props guests bring

The Black for formal nights
Matte black and quiet, at home in classic halls with white, gold and candlelight.
The Red to stand out
Signature red and loud on purpose. It stands out among greenery and bold colours, and nobody walks past it.
The open booth for big groups
No walls, so the whole table, team or class fits in one frame. Whatever stands behind the group shows in every photo, so choose the spot with care.
A custom backdrop
On request, a custom backdrop, such as one in your campaign look, so the photos themselves match the event.
Props guests already have
Often the best props are already at the party: graduation caps and gowns, team shirts at a company day, costumes at a themed event. At Bazarna Society, two costumed mascots sat inside the Red booth.

Where to place the photo booth

Start with the basics: about 2 × 2 metres of floor for the enclosed booth, which stands about 2 metres tall, and one power outlet; no Wi-Fi is needed. After that, the best spot is the one guests cannot avoid.

On the path, not in a corner
Near the route between the tables and the dance floor, or by the entrance, rather than in a side room where nobody walks.
Quiet enough for messages
Adding video messages? Leave some distance between the booth and the speakers, so every message is easy to hear later.
At home
The entrance hall or the side of the living area works, as long as no doorway is blocked. Mention stairs, lifts or narrow doors when you book, so we can confirm how the booth gets in.
In a garden
Level ground near a power outlet and close to where people sit; the far end of the lawn stays empty. Describe the garden and we confirm the setup.
For the open booth
Space for the group to stand in front, and a backdrop or wall behind them that looks good in every frame.
At an activation
A visible, high-traffic spot on the floor, so the booth draws people to your stand.

When to have the booth at its busiest

With up to 4 hours or 216 prints per standard booking, whichever comes first, it pays to line the booth up with the moments when everyone is in the room.

  1. As guests arrive

Early arrivals have time on their hands, and a booth that is ready at the door gives them a first stop.

  2. Right after the main moment

The signing, the rings, the cake or the speeches: everyone is together and dressed up, so send the key people in first.

  3. Between courses

People get up between courses anyway. Put the booth where they walk and they step in on the way back.

  4. The final hour

Announce a last round for everyone who promised to go in later.

Photo booth ideas by occasion

Weddings
Match the finish to the hall (The Black for classic, The Red for bold), and add The Truth Room so guests leave video messages too.
Engagements and katb ketab
Two family names joined on one strip, and a first session for both families as soon as the signing or the rings are done.
Birthdays
Make the age the headline of the strip, and bring the open booth if the friends arrive as one big crowd.
Graduations
Print the class year in the school colours, let caps and gowns be the props, and use the open booth for the group shot.
Corporate events and brand activations
Campaign artwork framing every photo, a custom backdrop in the same look on request, and the strip as the piece guests take home.
Exhibitions and conferences
Your stand number or hashtag on the strip, so visitors can find you again after the show.
Ramadan and Eid
Lanterns, crescents or khayamiya patterns around the frames, with “Ramadan Kareem” or “Eid Mubarak” and the date. Malls and venues can run a seasonal Ramadan frame.
New Year’s and holiday parties
The year on the strip and the venue’s own decor doing the rest, as when the Red booth stood in holiday garlands at Downtown Katameya.
Baby showers, gender reveals and sebou
A strip in the nursery colours with the family name, and the baby’s name only when you are ready to announce it. A Tru attendant helps anyone who has never used a booth.
Henna nights
Let the enclosed booth be the bride’s corner: her friends squeeze in, and the strip carries her name in the colours of the henna night.
Company family days
Whole families in the open booth, with the company logo and the date on every strip.

Keepsake ideas beyond the strip

Each print is one 4 × 6 inch sheet carrying two strips, cut apart after printing. That makes two keepsakes per session: one to take home, and one to give away or to stick in a guestbook.

With The Truth Room added, guests record short, raw video messages inside the booth, and every clip arrives uncut in a private cloud folder within a week. To get better messages, give guests a prompt: a card by the booth with one question, such as the best advice for the couple or a wish for the birthday. A clear question beats a blank “say something”.

And for the shelf, a Tru Photo Book: an A5 hardcover (14.8 × 21 cm) with 26 or 50 pages of 200 gsm archival matte paper, printed and bound in Cairo.

Photo booth ideas: common questions

What can I put on a photo booth strip?

Names, the date, your colours, a logo, a monogram or a short line that names the occasion, in Arabic, English or both. Every booking includes a custom design, as a three-frame, four-frame or bespoke strip.

Do I need a backdrop for a photo booth?

Not for the enclosed booth, since its walls keep the room out of the shot. With the open booth, whatever stands behind the group shows in every photo, so choose the spot well; a custom backdrop is available on request.

Where should the photo booth go?

Somewhere guests pass, such as the path between the tables and the dance floor, with about 2 × 2 metres for the enclosed booth and one power outlet. Keep it away from the speakers if you add video messages.

Which booth is best for a big group?

The open booth. It has no walls, so the whole group fits in one frame. The enclosed booth suits couples and small groups.

Can the strip match a Ramadan or holiday theme?

Yes. Every booking includes a custom strip design, so it can carry the season, the date and your colours.

Can guests leave video messages too?

Yes, with The Truth Room added to the booking. Guests record short messages inside the booth, and every clip reaches you uncut in a private cloud folder within a week.
