Engagement and katb ketab photo booth ideas

Practical ideas for the smaller nights before the wedding: what to put on the strip, where the booth should stand, when to open it and how to get both families inside.

The Red: red enclosed photo booth with a lit PHOTOBOOTH sign

In short

Good engagement photo booth ideas start with the strip: both names and the date, the family names or a monogram, in colours that match the decor, in Arabic, English or both. Place the booth where guests pass, have it busiest after the signing and during dinner, and send both families in together. Tru Booth brings an enclosed booth in Black or Red to homes, gardens and venues across Cairo, the North Coast and El Gouna, with a strip designed for you on every booking. Send your date and location on WhatsApp or through the inquiry form for a quote.

Engagement or katb ketab: start with the night

An engagement and a katb ketab are closer nights than a wedding: family and close friends, at home, in a garden or in a smaller venue. The ideas below are suggestions to adapt, not a formula.

At a katb ketab, the signing is the centre of the night. At an engagement, it is the rings. Either way, the booth works best as the place guests go next.

Engagement photo booth ideas for the strip design

Every booking includes a custom strip design. Ideas for what to put on it:

  • Both names and the date: simple, and it makes every strip a record of the night.
  • Both family names, for a katb ketab where two families become one.
  • A monogram of your initials, especially if you will use it on the wedding invitations too.
  • Colours taken from your decor, your flowers or your invitation, so the strip belongs to the same night.
  • Arabic and English together: your names in one, a short line in the other.
  • A short line that says what the night is, such as “Katb Ketab” or “Engaged”, with the date.
  • A three-frame strip for a simpler layout, or a four-frame strip for the classic look.
  • A bespoke concept, with AI-rendered artwork on request, if you want a design built from an idea rather than a template.

Where to put a photo booth at a home engagement, a garden or a venue

The enclosed booth needs a spot of about 2 × 2 metres, room for a height of about 2 metres, and one power outlet. It runs offline, so the Wi-Fi does not matter. Beyond that, placement is about where guests pass.

At home
Pick a spot guests walk past, such as the entrance hall or the edge of the reception room, without blocking a doorway. Tell us about stairs, lifts and narrow doors when you book, and we confirm the way in.
In a garden
Choose flat ground close to an outlet and near the main seating, not at the far end where nobody walks. The Red stands out among the greenery; the Black reads quieter.
In a venue
Near the path between the tables and the dance floor, rather than in a side room.
Away from the speakers
If you add video messages, keep the booth a little away from the music so the messages can be heard.

When to open the booth: katb ketab and engagement timing ideas

A standard booking covers up to 4 hours or 216 prints, whichever comes first, so place those hours around the busiest part of the night.

  1. As guests arrive

A booth that is ready when the first guests walk in gives early arrivals something to do while the families settle.

  2. Right after the signing or the rings

Both families are together and dressed up. Send them in first, before the night scatters.

  3. During dinner

Guests move between tables and courses. A booth on their path catches them on the way.

  4. Before the last song

A last call for the friends who kept saying they would go in later.

How to get both families into the booth

Start with the couple, then each family, then both together. A Tru attendant guides guests through the booth throughout the booking, so even grandparents who have never used one can step in, and the guest screen works in Arabic and English.

Every sheet prints two strips, cut after printing. When both families squeeze in together, one strip can go home with each side. If you want every person in a group to take a strip, ask for more copies per session when you book; our prints guide shows how many you need.

The enclosed booth takes a few people at a time. For one photo of everyone from both families, the Open booth has no walls, so the whole group fits.

Add video messages for the couple

With The Truth Room added, guests record short, raw messages inside the booth. You receive every clip, raw and uncut, in a private cloud folder within a week.

One idea: give guests a single question to answer, on a small card you place by the booth. Advice for the couple, a first memory of the bride or the groom, or a wish for the wedding. One question is easier to answer on the spot than “say something”.

Make the photobook the keepsake

The strip goes home tonight, the messages arrive within a week, and a Tru Photo Book can come after: an A5 hardcover (14.8 × 21 cm) of 26 or 50 pages on 200 gsm archival matte paper, printed and bound in Cairo. It is delivered across Egypt, or you can pick it up at a Tru booth.

One night, three keepsakes. For an engagement or a katb ketab, the book records the night your two families first celebrated together.

Black or Red: which booth suits your decor?

The Black and the Red are the same enclosed booth on the same package. The choice is only about the look.

Engagement and katb ketab booth ideas: questions

What should we write on a katb ketab photo strip?

Both names and the date are the classic. You can add both family names, a monogram, or a short line such as “Katb Ketab”, in Arabic, English or both.

Where should the photo booth go at a home engagement?

Somewhere guests pass, with about 2 × 2 metres of space, room for a booth about 2 metres tall and one power outlet. It runs offline, so home Wi-Fi does not matter.

When is the best time to open the booth at a katb ketab?

Have it ready when guests arrive, and send both families in right after the signing. A standard booking covers up to 4 hours or 216 prints, whichever comes first, so place it around the busiest part of the night.

Black or Red for an engagement?

Same booth, same package. The Black is quiet and formal; the Red is loud on purpose and stands out in a garden.

Can both families fit in the booth?

The enclosed booth takes a few people at a time. For one picture of everyone, the Open booth has no walls, so the whole group fits.

Do you cover engagements outside Cairo?

Yes. We work across Greater Cairo and Giza, on the North Coast and in El Gouna, and in other cities on request. Quotes outside Cairo include transport.
