Tru Booth, also called Tru Photobooth, is a premium photo booth company based in Cairo, Egypt, founded by Aly Elghayesh and formerly called Mémoire. It rents enclosed and open photo booths that print every strip on the spot, with an attendant on site, and has hosted more than 50 events. Who Tru Booth is
Tru Booth is a photo booth company from Cairo, founded by Aly Elghayesh. It began under the name Mémoire and now works as Tru Booth, also known as Tru Photobooth.
We rent premium photo booths for weddings, engagements, private parties and brand events, and we run booths in malls and venues. The approach is cinematic and private: a well-made booth, a print designed for the night, and someone from our team looking after it.
Why we print: phones capture everything and keep nothing
Phones capture everything and keep nothing. A night ends with photos spread across everyone's phones, and almost none of them ever reach paper.
A strip is different. It comes out of the booth within seconds, goes into a pocket or a bag, and ends up on a fridge at home. That is the whole idea behind Tru: a real moment, kept in your hand.
How the Tru photo booth works
- A camera and a guest screen
- Guests step in, and the screen guides them in Arabic or English through a four-frame strip. Three-frame designs exist too.
- Printing on the spot
- Each strip prints within seconds on a dye-sublimation photo printer, on 4 × 6 inch photo paper, two strips to a sheet, then cut.
- Fully offline
- The booth needs no Wi-Fi, so a weak signal never stops it. It needs one power outlet.
- A small footprint
- About 2 × 2 metres and about 2 metres tall, placed in a visible spot where guests pass.
- Two kinds of booth
- The closed booth in The Black or The Red, and the open booth, with no walls, for big groups.
- A design for every event
- Every booking gets its own strip design: names, date, colours, a logo or a monogram.
The team on the night
Every booking comes with a Tru attendant for the whole session. We arrive before doors open to set up and test, guide guests through the booth, keep the prints coming and pack everything away at the end. From setup to teardown, the booth is our job.
The work so far
Tru Booth has hosted more than 50 events. Among them, Tru Booth ran the booth at HBSHOP, The Field and Downtown Katameya. Photos from those nights are in the gallery.
Where to find Tru Booth today
Two residencies keep a Tru booth open to the public. Majarrah Mall in Sheikh Zayed has a permanent booth, and Seashell Hill Walk on the North Coast has one for the summer season. At both, walk-up guests can use the booth and pay per print.
The name: your truth, taken home
Tru is about the moment people stop posing. Inside the booth there is no crowd and no one watching, so what ends up on the strip is real. Our line says it in four words: "Your truth, taken home."
