Baby’s first year photobook: from the sebou to the first birthday

Thousands of photos in one year, and none of them printed. Twelve months, one book.

In short

A Tru baby’s first year photobook turns the photos of a baby’s first twelve months into an A5 hardcover of 26 pages, about 35 to 60 photos, with a caption or a date on any page, printed and bound in Cairo. Parents make it as a keepsake, and grandparents, aunts and friends give it, often at the first birthday; a book of the first weeks also makes a sebou gift. You upload the photos to the shop’s Baby’s First Year edition, approve the proof, and pay in cash on delivery anywhere in Egypt or at a Tru booth.

The most photographed year, and the least printed

No year of anyone’s life is photographed like the first one. Parents fill a phone in months, grandparents ask for more, and almost none of it is ever printed. By the second birthday the newborn photos are buried under thousands of newer ones.

A first-year book gathers the year while it is still fresh: the first days, the sebou, the first smile, the first steps, in order, with the month written under each page. It is the book a child pulls off the shelf years later to see who they were.

A first year, page by page

Babies keep their own schedule, so treat this as a running order, not a checklist:

  1. The first days

The hospital, the first family photos, coming home.

  2. The sebou

The seventh-day celebration: the family, the candles, the sieve, the guests.

  3. The first months

First smiles, first baths, the grandparents meeting the baby.

  4. The middle of the year

Sitting up, first food, the first trip or the first summer.

  5. Towards one

Crawling, standing, first steps, the people the baby now reaches for.

  6. The first birthday

The cake, the party, and one portrait for the last page.

Baby photos that print well

  • Send the originals from your phone’s gallery, Google Photos or iCloud, not photos forwarded on WhatsApp.
  • Daylight by a window beats the flash: softer skin, truer colours.
  • Take one photo each month in the same spot, on the same blanket or chair: twelve of them make a page of their own.
  • Get close: the hands, the feet, the sleeping face.
  • Be in the photos too. Parents and grandparents belong in the book.

Baby’s first year photobook questions

How many photos for a baby’s first year book?

The Baby’s First Year edition has 26 pages for about 35 to 60 photos: three to five a month. For a fuller year, a 50-page book holds about 70 to 120.

Can I write the month or a caption under the baby photos?

Yes. A caption or a date can go on any page of the Baby’s First Year book.

Is a photobook a good sebou gift?

Yes: a book of the first weeks, given at the sebou or soon after. Or make it a promise, and give the parents the first-year book at the first birthday.

Can grandparents get their own copy of the baby book?

Yes. A second copy for family can be added at checkout, at a discount.

Are my baby’s photos kept private?

The shop uses your photos only to make, print and deliver the book. Before you upload, you confirm that you are the child’s parent or guardian, or have their permission.

When should I start the first-year book?

Gather the photos in one album on your phone through the year, then make the book after the first birthday. If you start in the shop earlier, an unfinished book is kept for 90 days after your last change.

Start your book.

Upload your photos. Approve the proof. Pay in cash when the book arrives.
