A goodbye they can take with them
When someone leaves, for a job in the Gulf, a degree in Europe or a quiet retirement, the group usually gives a gift that could have come from anyone. A photobook can only come from you: the office, the trips, the late nights, the people they are leaving behind, in a book they will open in a new flat far from Cairo.
It is also the rare gift a whole group can make together. Everyone sends a few photos and a line, one person makes the book, and every page has someone in it.
Making one book from a whole group
Choose an organiser
One person collects, chooses and lays out the photos, so the book reads as one story, not a pile.
Set a deadline
Open a shared folder and give everyone a date to send their original photos by, a week or more before the goodbye.
Ask for a line
Each person sends one sentence for a caption under their photo: a memory, a joke, a thank you.
Lay it out in the shop
Upload the photos and the shop lays out the pages. Order them by year, or by person.
Approve the proof
Check every name and every caption before you approve: printing starts only after that.
Collect the money, then the book
The book is paid in cash when it arrives, so collect everyone’s share first.
